Individual counseling services are available for women desiring to sort through more complex personal and mental health concerns such as living with chronic illness, anxiety, grief and loss or depression. By combining cognitive therapy and mindfulness techniques I will work with you in exploring deeper issues to instill a renewed sense of empowerment and strength in the person you wish to become. For Michigan residents only, online or over the phone.

A relaxation session is a treatment for women that provides stress relief and restores inner healing and balance to the body. During these sessions I will include brief head and neck massage, aromatherapy, various energy therapies including Reiki, Chakra Balancing and Polarity therapy as well as guided meditation.

Life Coaching sessions are for women wanting a direct change in their lives and are ready to move beyond their perceived limitations. Together we will determine what areas of your life are receiving more attention than others and create a manageable plan that can restore a balance. Coaching sessions can be received over the phone or online from anywhere in the world.

About Brenda

Brenda Benjamin, LPC, NCC, LMT

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in treating women struggling with issues such as Lyme Disease and Chronic Illness, Grief and Loss, End-of-Life Care, Caregiver/Compassion Fatigue, Anxiety and Depression. I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University and completed my Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University in Psychology with a special focus on Death and Dying. I also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Holistic Ministries through the American Institute of Holistic Theology which focused specifically on counseling related to spirituality and inter-faith practices. Because of my interest in assisting those with terminal illness I’ve been drawn to Hospice work and was an active volunteer for 10 years.  And it is through my experience in assisting those with physical and cognitive disabilities that I recognize not only the various styles of support that each individual requires, but also the supportive needs of caregivers who provide ongoing care to patients and loved ones.

In 1997 I graduated with certification in massage therapy that opened up opportunities for me to practice massage in high end spas, private practice, clinics and even massaging popular touring musicians throughout the country. In 2005 I returned to massage school to complete a full 1,000 hours of training and am currently licensed as a massage therapist in both Michigan and New York.  The massage schools I attended included curriculum covering a variety of alternative health practices including meditation, yoga, herbal therapies, holistic nutrition, aromatherapy, and Chinese medicine.  While I find all avenues of healing beneficial, the treatment I have found most intriguing has been Energy Healing. In pursuit of this interest I have completed certifications in Polarity Therapy I and II, Chakra Balancing, Reiki I and II, Three in One Concepts–Tools of the Trade, Touch for Health I, II and III, and Therapeutic Touch. I find it important and necessary to seek out a variety of healing methods when working with my clients as certain modalities may only be helpful for each individual.

There is a certain level of creative and qualified skills that are necessary when it comes to choosing our best life. I believe that we each need to find that direction as we move one day into the next and I have found my role in life to be that extra support that can be so pivotal in challenging times.

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.

It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to has power over you. If you ALLOW it.
