I will teach you a myriad of money topics and concepts by giving you daily tips that you can begin using today.

Our Mission

Welcome to Todays Money Matters. My name is Robin Davis and I’d like to tell you what you can expect to learn by using this website. I have been a financial advisor since 1984. Back then, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 1200. The maximum income tax bracket was 50%, and CD rates and mortgage rates were in the DOUBLE digits…but things are very different today.

Most of what I know about money I learned through experience over thirty years of helping people like you, through the ups and downs in the market, keeping up with the changing tax laws, and learning estate planning techniques. In a nutshell, showing individuals how to use different investment strategies and tax saving ideas, and how to pass assets to children and grandchildren.

You won’t learn this knowledge by taking a few courses, or going to a couple of free sessions from an advisor who is trying to get your business. The reality is that the information is constantly changing. The market changes, the tax laws change and inheritances laws change. I spend a good amount of time just staying current with all the laws that are essential to know and understand. A lot of preparation and research is required for financial planning to accomplish your goals and execute the documents properly.

Beyond Book Knowledge

You could read all of the financial books in the word and still not learn everything you need to know from books. Often there is filler content in these books just to make them thicker. Many people don’t even buy books anymore or have the time to read them past the first two chapters. Frequently we Google the information and only find the answers to the one question we are researching. But there are many important factors to consider when it comes to planning for your future and the future of those you care about. You need to understand the big picture and how the various components affect the whole.

Real Life Experience

It would take you a long, long time to research the information that I’ve learned through working with clients over the past 30 years. My purpose in creating this website service is to provide you with the most important and useful information out of all these books and my 30 years of experience. We are presenting this information in an easy to understand format in manageable sections. I’ve learned that people learn and remember information better in small quantities and through repetition.

Take Control of Your Finances Today

I want to teach you a myriad of money topics and concepts by giving you daily tips that you can begin using today. I want you to be able to take control of your finances, otherwise you’re just taking your chances. I want you to be able to participate in the meetings with your financial advisor, not just have them tell you what to do.

Learn How to Choose a Financial Advisor With Our Free Book

You will be able to decide if you need to work with a financial advisor, and most importantly, how to choose one who has your best interests at heart. In fact, I wrote a book on that very topic called Who’s Sitting on Your Nest Egg? Why You Need a Financial Advisor and 10 Easy Tests for Finding the Best One. I promise you it is 100% content with no filler substitute. This book is free immediately to all subscribers on the member website!!

My email tips will give you the basics, not specific recommendations, because investment, tax and estate planning techniques are not one-size fits all solutions. I can, however, give you information to use with your advisor, or give you do-it-yourselfers pointers for some ideas you may not be thinking about.

Here are a few examples of topics I will be discussing:

  • Why needing less income at retirement is a myth.
  • Why you should not put your original signed wills or trusts in the safety deposit box.
  • What you need to know before you choose your pension option.
  • Why you shouldn’t take income from all of your assets once you retire.
  • Why you shouldn’t put your children’s names on your house, or your investment accounts or your bank accounts.
  • How grandparents are inadvertently disinheriting their grandchildren, even if they have named them in a will or a trust.
  • Why naming your trust as owner or beneficiary on certain investment accounts may be a very big mistake.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Believe me when I say that some of this information your advisor doesn’t want you to know. That’s not because it will make him or her look bad (or maybe it will) but mostly because it will make them have to work harder discussing issues with you that you learned from TODAYS MONEY MATTERS!

I look forward to teaching you what I have learned over the past 30 years and sharing my information with you. Remember, you can always send in your own personal questions and we will provide you with the information you need to make the best, informed decisions for your money matters.
